Submission Guidelines:
Lit-Cast pays authors royalties (US$) per CD sold or selected as a gift with a donation.
Spoken audio is considered first by manuscript. Though we are open to any non-genre literature, we consider the material as it would sound when read aloud as we review manuscripts. Practice reading something aloud before submitting it. If you send us something, we will assume that you are prepared to read it, so know whether this is true in advance of your submission. Here are few things to look out for that make fiction and non-fiction manuscripts difficult–but not insurmountable–to read:
- Multiple narrators (such as with Epistolary form).
- Esoteric or convoluted language that would make James Joyce blush.
- Regional dialects that you have printed, imagined, but cannot speak.
- Dialogue that contains lots of shouting or crying.
Please use the following guidelines for you submission:
Required:
- Submit Fiction, Non-Fiction, or Poetry. Submit between 7 and 12 pages, double-spaced 12-point Times New Roman font.
- SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope). Without this we cannot guarantee reply, even if you explain that you prefer an email reply.
- Email address.
RECORDING:
- We are now asking that authors work out recording on their own, if possible. Otherwise, you can come to Tampa, FL and we’ll handle it. Really, it’s not too difficult. If we want your material, we will find a way to trackĀ it!
Optional:
- We accept previously published print material if you can provide the name and date of publication.
- Simultaneous submission are also acceptable if you notify the other publications upon acceptance at Lit-Cast.
- You may include a CD recording of your material with your printed manuscript. Any file format is fine, but we prefer regular audio CD .wav (.cda) files.
